Zelda: Link's Awakening

This is a cutsie graphics Switch remake of the 1993 Game Boy edition. From memory, it seems pretty faithful to the original in terms of gameplay, and I guess it must also therefore be the original that was so obtuse in it's quests. Hugely overpriced, even for a modern game at about 14 hours long.

Pros

  • Nice music and graphics

Cons

  • As always, the Switch's performance is seriously below par; I really wasn't expecting framerate issues on a 2D top-down simplistic graphics game, but it really lags at times. The Switch really fails at anything other than the most basic of tasks.
  • Loading a save game for the first time can take several minutes, and it took almost 2 minutes of loading screen to leave the house at the beginning of the game
  • Basically exactly the same as the original
  • Expensive
