Vampire Survivors

Next up on the list of of games where you don't have to think is Vampire Survivors. A game with a very simple premise; the only thing you control is your movement and which weapons your character gets to pick. Everything fires automatically so all you have to worry about is moving out of the way of the infinite horde of monsters. It has a really slow start, but after a few hours it gets more interesting as you unlock more characters and weapons.

Pros

  • You can only pick up 10 different items during a run, but if you pick up the right combinations, they can upgrade to a new very powerful item (like garlic + cross = "soul eater")
  • You can refund your permanenty upgrade points for free any time
  • Unlike most roguelikes, you get a lot of choice over your build. Usually you just have to make do with what you get, but you're offered a choice every upgrade here

Cons

  • The gameplay mechanics revolve around you moving, and that's it. You can't fire your own weapons, everything is automatic
  • Looks awful. Not just the monster models, but the whole game is a mishmash of inconsitently sized pixel art
  • Steam screenshots don't work
  • Spawned a bunch of clone games
  • If you manage to survive the first 10 minutes, you've probably won the map. Which means the next 20 minutes are just watching bad guys die
  • Has pretty much nothing to do with vampires
  • Each level gets stupid in the last 60 seconds. It just fills the room with boss monsters and practically guarantees to kill you 30 seconds before the end of the level
