Tunic

From the artwork and descriptions, I was really expecting a Zelda-like game, but it’s actually Dark Souls in disguise. Combat is repetitive, unforgiving, uses the campfire / potion mechanic, and resets every time you rest. Maps are confusing, the UI and "manual" are obtuse and deliberately misleading - supposedly as part of a puzzle mechanic, but everything works together to just make the game a frustrating experience. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Cons

  • The isometric view is a key mechanic, but is really annoying walking behind things
  • The combat is a drag. Endlessly replaying the same 3 battles just to try and get to the next campfire is boring
  • A manual that doesn’t explain what items do
  • Hidden paths needed for progression
  • Spent the first 2 hours trying to leave the area after getting the sword because of weird level design
