Tidy Up the Town

This is the second game from the developer of Aethus (go buy that, it's great) as a short interlude before his next larger game. It was a day one buy for me and I'm glad I did. It's in the tidy/sorting genre and this time it's to put all of the items from a market back on the right stalls after they get caught up in a magical whirlwind and scattered everywhere. It's cohesive art style and design work really well and it's a short, satisfying experience.

Pros

  • If you've got an item from a stall you're next to, it auto selects it to place from the items in your hand instead of needing to scroll through your held items (can be toggled off)
  • Nice variety in item types. Unlike the Arcane Library which is primarily sorted by colour and titles, this differentiates itself by having a large variety of shapes, sizes and colours, so sorting the large stuff is easy to see and clears the space to see tiny things underneath. Object sizes range from whole pigs down to gold rings.
  • I didn't have any issues with working out where to put things
  • Cohesive low poly art style works well for object recognition
  • The colourful style also helps with object recognition
  • About 1-2 hours works well for multiple play-throughs
  • Jenkins dolls as a nod towards Aethus, the developer's other (awesome) game
