Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley

Snufkin is a game about restoring peace to Moomin Valley, upon discovering that it's being messed up by the Park Keeper and his army of policemen. You discover that your friend Moomintroll is missing, the valley has dried up, and turned into orderly parks. You then spend the next 4 hours looking for Moomintroll, doing some light puzzle solving and stealth sections, trashing park signs and being chased by policemen. It feels very Moomin, it's relaxing, satisfying, and has a really touching ending. I really enjoyed it, and it has 97% positive reviews on Steam. I'm really glad it's been so well received.

Pros

  • Beautiful artwork
  • The characters and dialog are fun
  • Touching story
  • Satisfying to rip up park signs
  • Great music
  • Fun side quests
  • Relaxing
  • There are three different instruments you can play, which are all used for different things. Disturb and wake things up with a drum, or put things to sleep with a flute

Cons

  • €20 but only 4-5 hours long
  • I ran into three separate occasions where I had to exit the game and reload to get a puzzle mechanic to trigger correctly
  • I accidentally skipped a section by building stepping stones across a river
  • There are a few areas that you can't get back to, so if you miss an achievement you need to play the game again
