Leaf it Alone

Leaf it Alone is a short (1-2 hours) incremental game, in the sense that you start off very slowly and can unlock upgrades and new tools to make your job faster. It's a game about clearing leaves, and fits into what Yahtzee termed "post-dad" games. Zen, relaxing, brain off, satisfying and relaxing. It's extremely polished, well designed and balanced. Same kind of genre as PowerWash Simulator and A Game About Digging A Hole. I've completed it 4 times doing all the achievements (still missing "complete the game in 40 minutes") so considering it only costs a fiver, I think it's great value.

Pros

  • It's an extremely satisfying gameplay loop
  • It feels very well balanced in terms of what you can unlock when, and especially when you get to doing some of the achievements, it's been tuned to perfection
  • Upgrade from picking up individual leaves, to a rake and leaf blower, collection vents and upgrades for all of those
  • Colourful and relaxing
  • Fun ending
  • Lots of replay value
