Hades II

Hades II is very similar to the first game, but just more and better in every way. If you loved Hades, you've come to the right place for more. The gameplay is similarly varied but with more skills and plenty of synergy between them. The voice acting and artwork is still top tier, and the controls are excellent. Also works perfectly on the Steam Deck - although I prefer to play on PC just because the screen is bigger.

Pros

  • Much more content than the first game
  • Minibosses are random, so it's not always the same ones over and over
  • Absolutely gorgeous. The colours, character artwork and animations all make the world really feel alive
  • You can run now!
  • They've implemented a load more resources and gathering types into the game and there are many many mechanics to unlock with them
  • New gods (Selene, Hera, Apollo, Hephaestus, Hestia etc) and removal of some old ones
  • New weapons, with lots of new fun Daedalus hammer upgrades
  • The moon goddess Selene also comes with a new mechanic, which gives you a choice of active abilities you can use after spending a certain amount of mana. That ability also later gets a skill tree in the same run
  • It runs perfectly on the Deck, although I prefer to play it on PC with a controller because it's easier to see and looks nicer
  • The voice acting is wonderful, and there's an absolute ton of it. Just like the first game, there are so many voice lines that happen under obscure circumstances, like Gods sometimes recognise you have a boon from another god, or comment on where you currently are. There must be hundreds or thousands of lines in the game.
  • I noticed that there's an "Undo" option to rewind the night in case you get a set of boons you can't get on with
