Dispatch

Dispatch, in my opinion, is more like an interactive cartoon than much of a game - but it's an excellent cartoon. It takes place across 8 episodes (all available now), and each episode of just under an hour is a combination of interactive cartoon and hero dispatching gameplay where you send heroes to emergency calls. It's produced by Critical Role with many of them voice acting, and the animation and story is top notch. So good in fact, that it makes up for the mediocre gameplay which I'm not really a fan of.

Pros

  • Choosing a character to romance was a genuinely difficult decision
  • Amazing voice acting
  • Fantastic story
  • Regularly laugh out loud funny

Cons

  • On the whole, I don't think your dialogue choices actually change anything apart from a couple of major decisions
  • The actual gameplay (dispatching) is pretty shallow and boring. You’re playing this for the cartoon.
  • Heroes have unique abilities that trigger on certain events, like “Malevola heals another hero if sent on a mission together, then gains one charisma”, but there’s no good way to keep track of those and they’re kind of obscure, so might as well just forget about them
