Crime Scene Cleaner

Crime Scene Cleaner... clue is in the title. It's exactly what you think. It's a satisfying game where you play as a janitor that gets sucked into the underworld, cleaning crime scenes for a mob boss. It features varied environments, interesting things to clean, some minor puzzles, but most importantly satisfying cleaning gameplay. It's about 15 hours long, so the price is good - and they're about to add loads more content in the next patch, which will be a good reason to go back and play through those nightmare levels again.

Pros

  • Gameplay revolves around cleaning bloodstains, picking up trash, restoring furniture, collecting dead bodies and evidence
  • Each of the maps are interesting - although there are only 10 of them
  • There's a short video cutscene before each map introducing what happened
  • There's a nice feeling of progression with tool upgrades. Money you earn (or steal) directly translates into skill points
  • There are a bunch of tools to deal with your tasks. Mops for floors, sponges for things that need delicate or hard cleaning, pressure washer for large areas
  • There are detergents to change how your cleaning tools work - although I can't say I noticed much of a difference
  • There are well hidden secrets in each map
  • I like how the main character gets more and more desensitised over time. At the start of the game he's horrified. Several missions in, he starts making puns

Cons

  • Generally it runs well, but the performance of the pool level and the warehouse are absolutely dire unless you turn off vsync and lower the graphics. You end up teleporting short distances with major stuttering
  • The last mission just kinda ends the game, with no resolution, no daughter coming home - not even an email from her. That was pretty disappointing
  • There's voice acting, but it's not very good
